County Caps.
1906/07-
T. G. Wedge in South team for England trial.
T. G. Wedge wins first England
cap as scrum-half against France. (5th
January 1907).
1907/08-
Cornwall defeat Durham in final to win County Championship of England. T.
G. Wedge and N. Tregurtha in Cornish side.
Cornwall represents Great Britain and wins silver medal at Olympic Games
in White City Stadium, London.
T. G. Wedge, N. Tregurtha and J. Trevaskis all in Cornish team.
1908/09-
Cornwall again reach final of County Championship and are runners-up to
Durham. T. G. Wedge and N. Tregurtha in Cornish team.
T. G. Wedge gains second England cap against Wales.
1914/18-

1918/19-
N. Tregurtha Captain of Cornwall. First post-war senior game of rugby
football in Cornwall, St. Ives play RAF St Mellion at Higher Tregenna.
1923-
J. H. Tremayne elected to represent Cornwall on Rugby Union Committee.
1925-
St. Ives moved to Recreation Ground -leased to it by Borough Council.
Ground officially opened 2nd April. First officially recognised
Schools Rugby match in Cornwall played at Higher Tregenna. St. Ives
Council School defeats Lescudjack School by 26pts to Nil.
1926-
W. Roach, Captain of
Cornwall Schools, first Cornish boy to play for England Schoolboys.
(England versus Wales at Cardiff. 6th March).
1928/29-
First Clubhouse opened
at Trenwith on 16th April 1928.
First County Match played at St. Ives. Cornwall versus Monmouthshire. 7th
February 1929.
1929/30-
George Pearce first St. Ives player to score over 100 points in a season
(106).
1938-
Pearce Woolcock St. Ives' second Schoolboy International.

Harold Stevens played for England ATC against Wales.
1946-
Harold Stevens Captain of England ATC against Northern Ireland.
St. Ives' first post-war match. St. Ives defeat Penzance & Newlyn by 6pts.
to 5pts. at Penzance. 15th March.
1947-
Tom Bryant appointed Hon. Team & Match Secretary of Cornwall RFU.
1948/49-
St. Ives Rugby
Supporters Club formed.
1949/50
Recreation Ground
purchased from Borough Council.
St. Ives head Cornish Merit Table after 36 consecutive matches without
defeat.
Jimmy Fleming scores club record of 46 tries in a season, one short of new
United Kingdom record set in same season by Cardiff & Wales centre B1eddyn
Williams.
1950/51-
Harry Oliver, Captain of Cornwall, has outstanding trials for England at
Leicester and Twickenham but fails to gain selection to England team.
Tony Bone selected as England trial reserve and as England reserve.
1951/52-
Harry Oliver Captain of Cornwall.
Levelling of Recreation Ground and installation of new drainage system.
Ground officially re-opened by Mr. P. Holman, President of Rugby Union, on
27th December 1951.
1953/54-
St. Ives defeat Cardiff and Bedford.
Derek Collins selected for England Schoolboys.
1957/58-
Harold Stevens, Captain of Cornwall, has England trial.
1958/59-
Harold Stevens, Captain of Cornwall, plays for Barbarians.

1964-
Brian Stevens selected for England Schoolboys.
1967-
St. Ives RFC Ladies Committee formed.
1968/69-
New Clubhouse opened at Recreation Ground by Mr. A. L. Thomas, President
of Cornwall RFU. (1st March 1968).
Tony Hosking appointed Club Coach. First such appointment in British
Isles.
Nomads formed and adopted by St. Ives RFC as its third team.
St. Ives defeat Penryn in final to win Cornwall Knock-Out Cup for first
time.

1969/70-
St. Ives draw with
Penryn in final to share Cornwall Knock-Out Cup.
Dave Phillips first St. Ives player to score over 200 points in a season.
1970/71-
In RFU Centenary Season
St. Ives overwhelms a strong Cornwall XV at Penzance in front of
representatives of the overseas Unions, scoring five tries.
St. Ives defeat Redruth in final to win Cornwall Knock-Out Cup.
Barry Ninnes becomes St. Ives' second full England International, playing
for England against Wales at Cardiff.
1971/72-
St. Ives heads Cornwall
Merit Table, suffering only one defeat by a Cornish Club.
George Pearce elected President of Cornwall Rugby Football Union.
1972/73-
£27,000 extension to Clubhouse completed. New lounge opened by John Non MP
on-3rd November 1972. Changing rooms, gymnasium and rugby room opened by
Mr. R. M. Kingswell, President of RFU, on next day.
St. Ives first Cornish side to score over 1,000 points in a season. (1,103
points, including 190 tries, in 46 matches). Jimmy Cocking sets two new
Club records with 368 points in a season, and 30 points in a single match.
Peter Hendy
travels on England tour to New Zealand and Fiji, playing for England
against Fiji and Wellington.
1973/74-
Peter Hendy gains Under
23 England cap, playing for England side against the Japanese and Tongan
touring teams, and has two England trials.
1974/75-
First matches played in
St. Ives on a Sunday and Good Friday.
St. Ives defeat Neath by l2pts to 3pts on Sunday 1st September, and
Guildford by 7pts to 6pts on Good Friday, 28th March 1975.
1975/76-
Peter Hendy, Captain of
Cornwall, has two further England trials and Captains South West Counties
against the Australians at Exeter. T
hree other St. Ives players also in South West Counties XV -Jimmy Cocking,
Brian Stevens and Roger Corin and a fourth John Trevorrow was one of the
replacements.
Roger Corin gains England Under 23 cap playing against Italy at Gosforth.
Jimmy Cocking and Dave Phillips become first St. Ives players to reach
individual scores of over 1,000 points in senior games.
1976/77-
Peter Hendy Captain of Cornwall.
Roger Corin gains England trial.
Land adjoining Recreation Ground purchased to provide second pitch and
mini/junior playing area.
First match at Recreation Ground under floodlights -St. Ives Nomads versus
RNAS Culdrose on 12th November 1976.
On Sunday 25th August 1976 wooden stand and pavilion at Recreation Ground
completely destroyed by fire.

1978/79-
St. Ives defeat Camborne in final to win Cornwall Knock-Out Cup.
Ian Farrell, Captain of Cornwall Under 23s, plays for England Colts
against Wales at Cardiff, and against France at Camborne.
1979/80-
Peter Hendy Captain of Cornwall.
Mini/Junior section of St. Ives RFC tour Belgium -first Club team to
travel abroad.
1980/81-
Peter Hendy Captain of Cornwall.
St. Ives defeat Camborne in final to regain Cornwall Knock-Out Cup.
1981/82-
Peter Hendy Captain of Cornwall.
St. Ives defeat Camborne in final to retain Cornwall Knock-Out Cup.
St. Ives defeat Bournemouth and Lewes in John Player Cup matches away from
home but fall to Bristol in third round by 6pts to 16pt. in first
televised match played at Recreation Ground.
Paul Winnan becomes third St. Ives player to score more than 1,000 points
in senior games.
1982/83-
Peter Hendy, Captain of Cornwall, plays for Barbarians against East
Midlands.
St. Ives first Cornish side to reach quarter-final of John Player Cup,
defeating Stroud, Old Gaytonians and Metropolitan Police before losing
away to Nottingham.

1983/84-
St. Ives Colts draw with Redruth in final to win Cornwall Colts Cup on
goals
rule.
1984/85-
St. Ives reach tenth final but lose to Camborne by one point in Cornwall
Knock-Out Cup.
1985/86-
St. Ives defeat Camborne in final to win Cornwall Knock-Out Cup outright
for sixth time.
Martin Haag plays for England Under 19 Schools against Australian Schools
at Twickenham, and goes on to play for England at this age group against
Scotland, Ireland, Wales and France.
St. Ives Colts tour S. W. France.
1987/88-
Ian Sanders plays for England Under 16 Schools against Portugal and tours
Italy, playing two further games. Martin Haag, while still eligible for
colts, makes his debut for Cornwall and plays with Glyn Williams in County
Championship semi-final against Middlesex.
2004/05
St. Ives are promoted back to South West 2 after finishing second in
Western Counties West and winning play-off game against Thornebury of
Western Counties North. They also reach the semi finals of the
Cornwall Knock Out Cup, losing narrowly to National League outfit
Launceston at Alexandra Road.
